How to Prepare for an Interview

Research the Company

Understand their mission, values, recent news, and leadership. Learn how they talk about themselves, and reflect that language back during the interview.

Practice Your Stories

Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to prepare examples of your achievements. Be ready to answer:

  • Tell me about yourself
  • Describe a challenge you overcame
  • How do you handle feedback?

Rehearse Out Loud

Record yourself or ask a friend to do a mock interview. Pay attention to pacing, tone, and confidence. Avoid memorizing — instead, focus on practicing your storytelling.

Prepare Questions for Them

Good candidates ask great questions. Show you’re serious by asking about the role’s biggest challenges, growth opportunities, or team culture.

Night Before Checklist:

Track metrics like time-to-hire, source of hire, and early turnover. Use this data to improve and adapt your strategy over time.

  • Pick your outfit (professional and appropriate to the company)
  • Confirm the time and location (or Zoom link)
  • Print your resume or have it open
  • Sleep well and hydrate

Nailing the interview isn’t just about knowing what to say — it’s about showing up prepared, composed, and genuinely interested.
